Abstract

This presentation will review common co-occurring mental health diagnoses and helpful screening tools. We will also present an evidence-based model of suicide assessment that provides an outline for the conversation. Information will be shared regarding newer substances found to have been misused in local areas.

Objectives

  • Participants will be able to describe basic screening tool to be able to identify co-occurring concerns
  • Participants will be able identify most common co-occurring concerns/diagnosis
  • Participants will be able identify 3 strategies for identifying differential diagnosis
  • Participants will be able to identify strategies for suicide prevention in the context of substance use treatment.

Accreditation

PHYSICIAN (CME)

The University of Pittsburgh designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

NURSING (CNE)

A maximum of 1.0 nursing contact hours will be awarded. Participants will be able to claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the program.

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, University of Pittsburgh is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program.
